Academic Instructor

The Academic Instructor provides instruction in basiceducation subjects such as mathematics, science, social studies,reading, writing and language arts, to help inmates/students learnskills that will contribute to their development as mature,responsible citizens.  The Academic Instructor maintains apositive learning environment, adopting secure classroom managementpractices, and develops level appropriate lessonplans. 

• Prepare course objectives followingcurriculum standards and applicable requirements bycontract
• Plan a program of study, lessonplans, assignments, and tests under generalsupervision.Provides instruction usingcourse outline, handouts and texts, audiovisual aids and othermaterials.Administer tests to evaluatestudents' progress and competency with subjectmatter.
• Assist students with individualizedinstruction asneeded.

Qualifications:  

• Graduate froman accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree isrequired.
• A teachinglicense ispreferred.Must possess orbe eligible for certification, license or other credentialsrequired by contract and/or state ofemployment.Continuedemployment in this position will be contingent upon obtainingand/or maintaining required agency credentials. 
• Three years of classroom instructionexperience is preferred. 
• Experience in Microsoft Office applicationsis required.  A validdriver's license isrequired.
• Minimum agerequirement:  Must be at least 18 years ofage.
