As a DHH Teacher with Soliant Health, you will work closely with students, teachers, parents, and other school staff to provide specialized instruction and support tailored to the unique needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Your role will be critical in helping these students achieve their full academic potential and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruction and Support:Provide individualized and group instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, using a variety of teaching methods and communication modes, including sign language, oral communication, and assistive technology.
  • Curriculum Development:Develop and adapt curriculum materials to meet the specific needs of students with hearing impairments. Ensure that instructional content is accessible and engaging for all students.
  • Assessment and Evaluation:Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed. Use assessment data to inform IEP goals and instructional planning.
  • IEP Development and Implementation:Collaborate with IEP teams to develop, implement, and review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students. Ensure that IEP goals are aligned with students' needs and educational standards.
  • Collaboration and Consultation:Work closely with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff to provide consultation and support. Advocate for the needs and rights of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing within the school community.
  • Family Engagement:Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress, share resources, and collaborate on strategies to support student learning at home.
  • Professional Development:Stay current with best practices in deaf education through ongoing professional development and continuing education. Participate in training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance your knowledge and skills.
  • Classroom Management:Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, understanding, and a sense of community among all students.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or a related field.
  • Valid New Jersey state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modes used by individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies, assistive technology, and accommodations for students with hearing impairments.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
