Description

POSITIONSUMMARY:  With minimum supervision administerradiation therapy

treatments & simulation inaccordance with the prescription & instructions of theradiation

oncologist. Must be able to judge whenthe treatment should be withheld until
consultationwith the radiation oncologist. Must be able to assist in treatmentplanning procedures including tumor localization & dosimetry.Triage sick patients to nursing for evaluation. Ability to performdaily and other QA (quality assurance) protocols. Ability toinitiate and run organ specific and procedure specific CTprotocols.



Requirements

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Graduate of anaccredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program. Associate’s orBachelor’s degree, or Certificate in Radiation TherapyTechnology.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:Registered and certified by the American Registry ofRadiologic Technology (ARRT) as an RTT. Current New Mexico Statelicense.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to operate a linear accelerator, computerizedrecord and verify system, portal imager, CT/simulator, HDR andultrasound.
  • Excellent computer skills andtrouble shooting ability.
  • Must be able tounderstand and carry out complex radiation prescriptions and ableto work under pressure

EXPERIENCE: Prior experienceas a radiation therapist or a new graduate.

NATURE OFSUPERVISION:

-Responsible to: Manager,Medical Physics

ENVIRONMENT:

- Bloodborne pathogens -B

Exposure to radiation,chemotherapy drugs, Hepatitis B, contagious diseases, infectedwounds and needle puncture inherent in an acute caresetting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to move quickly, bending, stretching,lifting patients of all weights with assistance, pulling or pushingwheelchairs and stretchers. Manual dexterity, good vision, hearingand speech. Ability to lift heavy objects above the head or belowknee level.
