? Job Opportunity: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) ?

Are you passionate about empowering students with visual impairments to reach their full potential? Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year in the Ashland, Virginia area.

Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Location: Ashland, Virginia area Employment Term: 2024-2025 School Year Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week (8:00 am - 4:30 pm) Assignment: Itinerant across multiple campuses

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments.
  • Conduct functional vision assessments for students in the evaluation process.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and materials to promote skill development and independence.
  • Advocate for the educational needs and rights of students with visual impairments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or a related field.
  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Virginia (or eligibility for certification).
  • Experience completing functional vision assessments and providing direct services to students with visual impairments.
  • Strong knowledge of Braille and other adaptive technologies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel between multiple school sites within the Ashland area.

Pay: $45-48/hour
