Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments to determine students' communication needs. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other professionals.

  • Therapy and Intervention: Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students with communication disorders. Design and deliver individualized and group therapy sessions tailored to students' specific needs.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and parents to create and implement strategies that support students' communication goals within the classroom setting. Provide training and guidance to staff on communication strategies and accommodations.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, therapy sessions, and IEP goals. Prepare and submit required reports and documentation in compliance with district and state regulations.

  • Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities. Attend relevant meetings, workshops, and training sessions.

  • Student Advocacy: Advocate for students' communication needs and ensure that their voice is heard in educational planning and decision-making processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited program.

  • Certification: Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Nebraska. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred.

  • Experience: Previous experience working in a school setting is highly desirable. Experience with a diverse student population and a range of speech and language disorders is a plus.

  • Skills: Strong assessment and diagnostic skills, excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, and a collaborative approach to working with students, families, and school staff. Ability to manage a diverse caseload and maintain organized records.

  • Attributes: Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt therapy techniques to meet individual student needs.
