Description

Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for renderingprofessional nursing care across the wellness-illness continuum forthe comfort and well-being of healthy retired Sisters and thoseSisters in the acute, chronic, and terminal phases of illness. TheRN is expected to utilize knowledge of infection control, safety,body mechanics, effective communication skills, interpersonalskills, and age-related differences when providing or delegatingcare.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree required, bachelor's degreepreferred 
  • Graduate from an accreditedschool of nursing
  • Communication skills – bothverbal and written
  • Ability to understandmedical records, physician orders and nursing careplans
  • Ability to communicate effectively withSisters, staff and other health careprofessionals.
  • Minimum of one year previousgerontology experience preferred
  • Previoussupervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge ofpsychotropic drugs in current use and drugs commonly used ingeriatric practice
  • Current RN permits orlicensure issued by the Board of Nurse Examiners in the State ofTexas to practice nursing.
