Position Overview:
We're hiring a Server and Systems Team Lead to work with our team at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center located in Glynco, GA near Brunswick. In this position you'll become part of a technically diverse team to include but not limited to Help Desk Specialists, Network Engineers, System Administrators, and Database Professionals. Together this team provides IT Operations and Support to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) which is responsible for training Law Enforcement Professionals from over 90 different agencies.
Position Responsibilities: Servers and Systems
Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, documentation and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualizationInstall and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processesTroubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issuesProvide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructurePerform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover proceduresProvide support for File and Print ServersServer health checksServer monitoring and reportingRecover and restore dataInstall operating system patches, upgrades, restores, etc.Install application Software patches and releases as neededComplete backups and data retention of servers and systemsProvide after-hours cell phone and on-call support to respond to server outagesResponsible for the maintenance, configuration, documentation and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualizationInstall and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processesTroubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issuesProvide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructurePerform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover proceduresResponsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performanceRequirements
Minimum of five years' experience with both Windows and Linux System AdministrationExperienced with virtualization tools such as VMWare or equivalentExtensive understanding of HPE and Dell server configuration and hardware and firmware updates vSAN management experienceExperienced with AzureStrong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocolsPowerShell Scripting ExperienceStrong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocolsExperience with securing OS and applications with STIG requirementsPreferred Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
Knowledge of Dell blade server hardware and firmware updatesExperience with Cisco MDS Fiber Channel programming, zoning and firmware updatesExperience with vSphere installation, configuration, and updatesExperience with VMWare and CloudKnowledge of Virtual appliance deployments, server template creation, and server deploymentsUnderstanding of Dell hardware managementFamiliarity with Veeam One virtual infrastructure monitoringKnowledge of OS network routingExperience in Application supportIIS support and hardeningPrefer candidates with one of the following Certifications: MCSE, VCP, Linux +, RHCSA or another related certificateBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field; Experience may substitute for Degree
