The position will commence in January 2026 and is renewable contingent upon successful performance and funding.Generally, the successful candidate will teach one undergraduate microbiology lecture per semester as well as coordinate and supervise multiple laboratory sections. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in student mentoring and other service-related activities within the Department of Biological Sciences, the College, and the University.Primary Responsibilities:Teaching: Educating students, mentoring them, and fostering their intellectual development, which includes teaching undergraduate courses and course preparation and development.Service: Contributing to the governance and functioning of the university, college, and department including participating in recruitment and retention activities, and mentoring students.Functional and Supervisory Relationships:Reports to: Department ChairSupervises the following positions: Teaching Assistants and Laboratory InstructorsJob Requirements:Excellent organizational skills and multitasking abilities. Sound knowledge of microbiological principles and techniques. Demonstrated approachability and contribution to organizational unit.Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:A Ph.D. or equivalent in biology, biological sciences, microbiology or related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by August 15, 2026.One year of teaching experience in microbiology lecture with a laboratory at the undergraduate levelExperience coordinating multiple laboratory sectionsExperience designing and coordinating a microbiology course suitable for both Biology majors and non-Biology majorsApplicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus communityApplicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their rolePreferred Qualifications:Experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students in supervised research projectsExperience supervising graduate teaching assistants and laboratory instructorsDocumented skills in modern bioinformatics methodsWorking Environment:Typical office, classroom, and instructional lab environmentsAdditional Information:Professional Rank and Salary Range: Lecturer (10Months), A0, Salary commensurate with experienceThe Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, or Clery Act, mandates that all Title IV institutions, without exception, prepare, publish and distribute an Annual Security Report.
