Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Location: Richfield, NC

Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team in Richfield, NC. The successful candidate will provide customized instructional support to students with special needs, promoting their academic and personal development in an inclusive and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on each students unique needs and abilities.
  • Modify the general education curriculum to address the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to create an optimal learning environment.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and materials to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Continuously monitor and assess student progress, making adjustments to instruction as needed.
  • Create and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other relevant professional activities.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of student progress and performance.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in special education.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred.
  • Licensure:
    • Valid North Carolina Professional Educators License in Special Education (K-12).
    • Must meet the requirements set by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
  • Certifications:
    • Appropriate teaching certification in Special Education.
    • Additional certifications as required by the state of North Carolina.
  • Experience:
    • Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
    • Experience in creating and implementing IEPs is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of special education laws and best practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
    • Effective organizational and time management skills.
    • Patience, creativity, and a commitment to supporting students with special needs.
Working Conditions
  • The position may require lifting and moving educational materials and equipment.
  • The teacher may need to assist students with physical needs, including mobility and personal care.
  • Work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
