Mental Health Therapist

At CoreCivic,our mental health teams make lasting changes in the lives ofoffenders, as we set the standards of care in the industry.In our organization, theseprofessionals are placed in the position of Mental HealthCoordinator, PT to plan and provide clinical mentalhealth services of a non-medical nature in the facility.
This is a part-time position thatregularly works less than 30 hours perweek.
Thesuccessful candidate should be able to perform ALL of the followingfunctions at a pace and level of performance consistent with theactual job performancerequirements.
- Conducts mental health screeningsand assessments based on review of available records, and clinicalinterviews with inmates.As part of a mental health team,confers with other clinical staff, e.g., psychiatrists,psychologists, mental health service provider's physicians, nurse,and social workers, in order to gather and provide informationconcerning patient psychological problems, to ensure treatmentactivities are well integrated and patient care follow-throughoccurs.Provides treatment to inmates bydeveloping, implementing and modifying individual treatment plansbased on evaluation of needs and level offunctioning.Documents treatment and evaluationactivities in the health care record for each personseen.
- Consults with and makes appropriate recommendations tomultidisciplinary staff (e.g., security staff, unit staff, andfacility management) regards behavior and mental health issuesaffecting inmates.Demonstrated a thorough knowledgeof psychological counseling theory and techniques by way oftreatments and activities used for individuals incaseload.Provides appropriate mental healthassessments, counseling and confrontation avoidance interventionsto address the needs of inmates incrisis.Administrators mental status examsor uses other psychological tests and instruments as necessary toevaluate inmates' treatment, adjustment and placementneeds.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited college or university witha master's degree in social work, psychology, mental healthcounseling or a degree in a related clinical area.
- Five years clinical experience which includes two yearsin a comparable job position required.
- Must possess appropriate current certification orlicensing.
- Avalid driver's license is preferred, unless required by contract orapplicable statute.
- Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 21 years ofage.
