(Contingent upon available funding): 14.25 - 16.50, Hourly Work Schedule: M-F 8-5 After hours, weekends and holidays as needed to meet client needs Faculty Appt Period: Job Summary: The Molecular Lab Supervisor is responsible for oversight and management of daily activities in the molecular section of the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (OADDL).  This position will assist the Molecular Lab Manager (lab manager) in the supervision, training and proficiency of 1-3 Sr Lab Techs and will work closely with them and the lab manager to perform and complete daily diagnostic PCR testing, develop new diagnostic tests, and ensure quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA).Occasional unpleasant odors from animal issues and diagnostic specimens.  Ability to operate in fast-paced, high-throughput environment with repetitive pipetting tasks.  Occasional holiday and weekend work.Handling of chemicals, handling of animal tissues, biological/zoonotic agents (including but not limited to viral and bacterial, fungal, and protozoal organisms), and use of electrical equipment.Rabies immunization is required and will be provided. 
Special Instructions to Applicants Education & Experience Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Vocational/Technical

2 years of lab experience with PCR and working with nucleic acids.

OR HS/GED and 4 years experience

Working knowledge and proficiency in molecular techniques; specifically, RNA/DNA extractions, PCR analysis, molecular assay development, use of gel electrohoresis, and trouble-shooting.  Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and proficiency in general use of laboratory equipment are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related field

3-5 years of lab experience in molecular diagnostic laboratory, veterinary diagnostic laboratory, or research laboratory setting.
