POSITION SUMMARY: An integralmember of the surgical team who provides support for surgeonsthroughout the operation by preparing, providing and caring forinstruments and equipment and maintaining a sterilefield.
Requirements
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High schooldiploma or equivalent. Graduation from a school of SurgicalTechnology preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: BLScertification required prior to end of probationary period.Surgical Tech certification required.
SKILLS: Knowledge of care andhandling of instruments and equipment. Knowledge of sterilizationand cleansing procedures. Ability to read, write, and communicateverbally in English.
EXPERIENCE:One or more years experience in an acute carehospital setting in the operating room or an instrument careenvironment preferred.
NATURE OFSUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Manager,Surgical Services
ENVIRONMENT:
- Bloodborne pathogens -C
Employee will be instructed inUniversal Precautions and Right to Know. Employee will be expectedto utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is apotential for exposure to infectious materials or hazardouschemicals. Cleaning, repair and replacement of this protectiveequipment will be furnished by the hospital. Utilizes availabletools to prevent worker injuries.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavyphysical effort requiring standing, walking or lifting most of theday. Requires ability to speak, hear and communicate verbal andwritten materials.
