Create and maintain a clean, safe, inviting environment for students, living or working in Residence Halls on campus, and visitors.

Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions. Special note: this is a generalized representation of positions in this class and is not intended to identify essential functions per ADA. Examples of competencies are typical of the majority of positions, but may not be applicable to all functions.

Summer Cleaning

• Clean all assigned rooms, cleaning everything above the baseboards.
• Remove and properly dispose of trash and recyclables if it applies.
• Clean doors, windows/window sills, spot clean walls, etc.
• All other duties as assigned.

Clean Common Areas

• On a daily basis – clean all common areas, floors, mirrors, dusting radiators, water fountains, stairwells, elevators, windows/window sill, etc.
• Remove and properly dispose of trash and recyclables if it applies.
• All other duties as assigned.

Clean Kitchens and Laundry Rooms

• On a daily basis – clean counter tops, stove tops, floors, appliance, etc.
• All other duties as assigned.

Clean Bathrooms

• On a daily basis – clean toilet bowls, seats, base, shower walls, all partitions, floor drains, tubs, urinals, pipes, soap dispensers and all fixtures, vents, and mirrors.
• Keep bathrooms odor free and sanitized.
• Remove trash and clean trash receptacles as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

Safety and Health Compliance

• On a daily basis check chemical stations, bottles, all equipment for any malfunctions, safety and health checks.
• All other duties as assigned.

Insures chemicals are labeled and environmentally safe are receiving close supervision. Reads safety manual prior to entering areas that should be avoided. Reads appropriate owner’s manual as it relates to equipment and is aware of proper safe operation and standards. Insures equipment is properly maintained. Contacts appropriate personnel (supervisor and lead person) when needed. Reports injuries, illnesses or unsafe acts or conditions.
