Sign Language Interpreter

Soliant Education has partnered with a school district in the Wildwood, Georgiato prescreen, interview, and hire a Sign Language Interpreter.

Position Overview: As a School-Based Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and other school staff. You will work closely with students on an elementary caseload, ensuring they have equal access to education and fostering a supportive learning environment.

Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week) W2 contractCaseload: Elementary School

Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation services during classroom instruction, meetings, and school-related activities.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure the effective integration of students with hearing impairments.
• Assist in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and educational goals for students.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes communication and learning.
• Act as an advocate for students with hearing impairments and ensure their needs are met.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and services provided.

Qualifications:

• Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification, EIPA score, NIC or RID (3.5)
• Experience working with elementary school-aged students preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of educational and sign language interpreting techniques.
• Understanding of deaf culture and the needs of students with hearing impairments.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a school environment.
