Job Description: School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist Qualifications:

Education:

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current Massachusetts Speech-Language Pathology License issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
  • Eligible for or holding Massachusetts Educator License for Speech, Language, and Hearing Disorders through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
  • Passing score on the Communication and Literacy Skills Test (required for MA educator licensure).
  • Up-to-date CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check (CORI) and fingerprinting clearance as required by Massachusetts law.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team in providing exceptional speech and language services to students in a school-based setting. The ideal candidate will focus on helping students achieve their communication goals and support their academic success in collaboration with educators, families, and other school staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in students.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students' specific needs.
  • Provide direct speech and language therapy services in both individual and group settings.
  • Monitor and document students' progress toward therapy goals, adjusting plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students' educational outcomes.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and staff development sessions.
  • Educate staff and families on speech and language development, intervention strategies, and communication disorders.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations regarding special education and therapy services.

Experience:

  • Experience working with children in a school setting is highly preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of IEP development and implementation is a plus.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong understanding of child development and communication disorders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient in documentation and maintaining compliance with state and federal education laws.
