Quinnipiac University's College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a full-time one-year, visiting faculty position in Sociology. We are especially interested in applicants who can support our rapidly growing major in Health, Medicine and Society. The start date is August 2024. This position is an on-ground, on-campus position. It is benefits-eligible.

Responsibilities:

Teach four classes per semesters, including SO101 (Introduction to Sociology), SO 280 (Sociology of Health and Illness), SO360 (Sociology of Mental Health), and other classes that can support Sociology and Health, Medicine, and Society major.Hold regularly scheduled office hours for students. Advise and mentor students.Contribute to curricular development and revisions.Attend program meetings.

Education Requirements:

  • A PhD in Sociology or related field is required at the time of appointment to be hired at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. Candidates with a master’s degree in an appropriate field may be hired at the rank of Visiting Instructor.

Qualifications:

A strong foundation in social sciences as they relate to health issues.Preference will be given to candidates with relevant college teaching experience in health-related topics and other sociology classes for a broad audience, who can support our rapidly growing major in Health, Medicine, and Society.Applicants who can relate work in health issues to inequality, race, gender, and justice are encouraged to apply.Committed to excellence in teaching.Commitment to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community
