BASIC FUNCTION:

Responsible for all functions related to shipping and receiving and inventory accuracies for the Winona Distribution Center. The principal objective of this position is to support the Warehouse Manager in all aspects of the day to day and provide as the backup in the event of Warehouse Managers absence.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma and at least six months’ experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing related environment. Prior working experience preferred in supervision, coordinating import and export documentation, shipments and rules. Capability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers is essential along with excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to speak, read, write and understand English. Candidate must demonstrate knowledgeable experience in Microsoft Office and data entry operation. JDE software experience is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide support/backup functions to Warehouse Manager.
  2. Communicate work instructions and assignments to the Warehouse Clerks and Traffic Coordinator to ensure all shipping/receiving functions are fulfilled on time for daily business demand.
  3. Work with Outsourced Logistics Provider as required. Schedule truckload/container load pick-ups and consolidate shipments for the most cost effective method of delivery. File all freight claims, LTL & Parcel and ensure that any issues with carriers are promptly resolved.
  4. Be an active contributor in maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Work in conjunction with the Peerless Safety Committee to execute monthly safety audits and call out risk observations.
  5. Confer with customer service, purchasing or planning to redirect orders to other warehouses. Generate documents and schedule pickups for customer returns and any other warehouse related support as required.
  6. Communicate between customer service and other departments to ensure priority tasks are effectively accomplished.
  7. Complete daily dock checks to identify and resolve any problems in either inbound or outbound freight.
  8. Advise appropriate personnel regarding shortages, inventory inaccuracies, special product/order requirements, quality or any other issues inhibiting accurate and timely order fulfilment.
  9. Maintain communication with distribution centers. Coordinate and expedite distribution center shipments. Work closely with receiving to address discrepancies and answer questions on distribution orders.
  10. Coordinate and prepare export documents for international shipments.
  11. Maintain spreadsheets to ensure supplies are always stocked for warehouse and office.
  12. Maintain up to date files/storage of critical documents. Pick lists, bills of lading, distribution orders, claim forms, freight claims, picking errors etc.
  13. The person in this position is required to be self-motivated, detail oriented and organized, with exceptional skill in following through on completion of tasks and the ability to perform at a high level of accuracy.
  14. Regular attendance, communication and meeting committed deadlines are all essential elements of the job. These requirements are key to the operation and effectiveness of this position and if not in place have the potential to impair and diminish expected results.
  15. Other duties as assigned.
