Linux Systems Administrator 1000 Darden Center Dr, Orlando FL 32837 Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Linux Systems Administrator will be responsible for performing Linux systems analytical and administration work. Employees in this position will support, implement, maintain, monitor, and protect the company's Linux systems and associated environments. Employees must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision but will have Sr. Linux Engineers to escalate issues to as needed.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Proactively monitoring the company's Linux systems to ensure continued availability.

-Managing and maintaining the company's Linux systems and associated environments.

-Identifying and resolving problems with the Linux systems and associated environments.

-Proactively improving the security posture of Linux systems and associated environments and quickly responding to security-related issues.

-Completing maintenance and support actions for the Linux servers.

-Developing processes to increase efficiency and automating regular maintenance of support actions.

-Providing On-Call support for Linux systems and related servers.

-Providing first-level Linux-related services support to other IT personnel and escalate as needed.

-Deploying software for service packs or emergency security patches.

-Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

-Minimum of 5 years of progressive IT experience.

-Demonstrated experience in installing, configuring, recovery, and troubleshooting Linux systems, as well as skills necessary for change and configuration management.

-Proficient in Linux administration tools, such as SSH, SCP, SFTP, rsync, cron, etc.

-Experience with cryptographic protocols and ciphers and their impact on server and network communications.

-Intermediate understanding of networking infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN) and protocols (TCP/IP).


REQUIRED EDUCATION:

-Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field. Will consider work experience in lieu of education.


OTHER KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

-Experience with systems management/monitoring tools (Ansible, Satellite, Nagios, Cacti)

-Excellent analytical and organizational skills with strict attention to detail.

-Creativity in proactively developing approaches to problems and recommending actions to management or implementing recommendations.

-Experience in working with formal Patch Management and Change Control Systems.

-Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.

-Strong collaborator, willingness to do whatever it takes to complete projects/assignments on time with high quality results.

-Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

-Red Hat Enterprise Linux certifications are a plus
