What you'll do:

• Serve to support your practiceâs team, setting the bar for providing high-level, competent veterinary medical care and embodying the Chewy Vet Care culture to work collaboratively with your peers and deliver the pet parent WOW experience. 
• Responsible for implementing the outlined policies and procedures, utilizing integrated technology, and delivering consistent and appropriate medical care within the given skill set.
• Perform veterinary technician skills to support practice veterinarians, including monitoring sedated patients (non-anesthetic), placing IV catheters, drawing blood, and running blood work and other diagnostic lab tests, assisting veterinarian with wound care and similar procedures, administering fluids, taking x-rays, assisting basic dentistry, familiar with surgical pack and prep.
• Demonstrate team support and care for othersâ work experiences.
• Understand and follow the practiceâs Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standards of Care (SOC).
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with other team members, keeping veterinarians informed in real time on patient updates (in practice, at referral, and under home care). 
• Be proficient using the PIMS and provide assistance to others on the team in their use of the technology.
• Act responsibly given the pharmacy holdings of the practice and maintain controlled substance logs.
• Assist practice manager with communicating on inventory needs. 
• Clean workspaces after every patient or patient lab sample interaction.
• Participation in self-development courses and Chewy Vet Care required compliance training.
• Perform related duties and assignments as directed by management.
• May be required to work weekends, position may require some travel.

What you'll need:

• Successful completion of an accredited veterinary technology program and current licensure is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to complete the veterinary technician skills checklist for Veterinary Technician I
• 1+ years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in practice is preferred.
• Strong ability to connect with clients and demonstrate empathy and compassion.
• Excellent verbal / written communication, observational, and analytical skills.
• Passionate about helping people and pets with empathy and excellent customer service focus.
• Thrives in a fast paced, self-starter environment.

Physical job requirements: 

• Standing or walking up to 80% per shift.
• Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Frequently lift up to 70 pounds using an optional team lift.
• Rarely lift greater than 70+ pounds using a team lift. 
• Stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel.
