What you'll do:
- Serve to support your practiceâs team, setting the bar for providing high-level, competent veterinary medical care and embodying the Chewy Vet Care culture to work collaboratively with your peers and deliver the pet parent WOW experience.
- Responsible for implementing the outlined policies and procedures, utilizing integrated technology, and delivering consistent and appropriate medical care within the given skill set.
- Perform veterinary technician skills to support practice veterinarians, including monitoring sedated patients (non-anesthetic), placing IV catheters, drawing blood, and running blood work and other diagnostic lab tests, assisting veterinarian with wound care and similar procedures, administering fluids, taking x-rays, assisting basic dentistry, familiar with surgical pack and prep.
- Demonstrate team support and care for othersâ work experiences.
- Understand and follow the practiceâs Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standards of Care (SOC).
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with other team members, keeping veterinarians informed in real time on patient updates (in practice, at referral, and under home care).
- Be proficient using the PIMS and provide assistance to others on the team in their use of the technology.
- Act responsibly given the pharmacy holdings of the practice and maintain controlled substance logs.
- Assist practice manager with communicating on inventory needs.
- Clean workspaces after every patient or patient lab sample interaction.
- Participation in self-development courses and Chewy Vet Care required compliance training.
- Perform related duties and assignments as directed by management.
- May be required to work weekends, position may require some travel.
What you'll need:
- Successful completion of an accredited veterinary technology program and current licensure is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to complete the veterinary technician skills checklist for Veterinary Technician I
- 1+ years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in practice is preferred.
- Strong ability to connect with clients and demonstrate empathy and compassion.
- Excellent verbal / written communication, observational, and analytical skills.
- Passionate about helping people and pets with empathy and excellent customer service focus.
- Thrives in a fast paced, self-starter environment.
Physical job requirements:
- Standing or walking up to 80% per shift.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently lift up to 70 pounds using an optional team lift.
- Rarely lift greater than 70+ pounds using a team lift.
- Stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel.
