IT Specialist

Summary

This position is in Information Technology Resources Branch (ITRB) in the Office of Administrative Management (OAM) of the NCATS. The ITRB is responsible for planning, developing, operating, maintaining, and upgrading the NCATS computer and scientific systems to provide the data and information needed by the management to access, evaluate and report the progress of program activities and to plan new programs.

Duties

As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will:

• Serve as a principal contract for coordination, implementation, and enforcement of information security policies.
• Make recommendations for operational policies, procedures, and criteria for interfacing with program systems resources, and coordinate with other IC and/or NIH staff on the development of information security system and application policies, guidelines, standards, requirements, and procedures.
• Serve as an Information Security Specialist and is responsible for a wide range of complex assignments and projects relative to information systems and security matters.
• Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
• Participate in Web based applications, network, and systems designs to ensure the implementation of systems security policies, guidelines and procedures, including initial design; system life cycle change review; and configuration management.
• Review and evaluate security incident response policies; identifies the need for changes based on new security technologies or threats; tests and implements new policies; and institutes measures to ensure awareness and compliance.
