3rd Shift
The Maintenance Lead role is to effectively and efficiently communicate, facilitate, coordinate, and prioritize all maintenance activities within their area. This position requires working closely with other supply groups, particularly Quality Control and Operations to ensure consistent product quality, productivity and safety.
Principal Accountabilities:
Quality Control Responsibilities - Train technicians to interpret data (trend data, identify root cause, implement solution); formulate actions to address non-conformance issues; analyze and develop permanent solutions to prevent chronic or significant quality issues. Provide in depth knowledge of quality systems and all work instructions for the area. Provide input for improvements/changes to work instructions. Ensure corrective/preventative actions are implemented and completed.
Safety Compliance:
Train technicians on safe operating procedures. Provide input as appropriate regarding safety. Enforce safety requirements. Provide input to project safety reviews on systems in area.
Implement Continuous Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing systems that optimize all phases of the manufacturing process and support key business objectives (waste, labor, reliability, ATS, line capacity, etc.). Provide input to feasibility and change management requests.
Equipment Maintenance and Sanitation:
Effectively communicate and schedule PMs and improvements to area. Identify, report and help any potential product contamination issue. Maintain a clean work environment including 5S adherence and follow through to ensure completion of action plans to address sources of contamination. Support role in cleaning and sanitation of area.
Performance Management & Associate Engagement:
Jointly agree with the Manager, job and development expectations for associates by area/job.
Recognized Expert for Maintenance:

Provides leadership to the maintenance area to ensure efficient logistics and use of resources throughout the entire shop floor process (full-time and contractor manpower).

Prioritizes all of the maintenance activities such as unplanned work orders, continuous improvement activities, and operational preventative maintenance programs.

Demonstrated ability to resolve non-routine issues at root cause and incorporate into preventive actions.
-
Detailed knowledge of area including process flow, rates, critical control points, metrics (ATS, TRS, costs). Ability to troubleshoot routine and non-routine issues and direct maintenance team resources towards achieving safe, timely, cost-efficient solutions.

Develop best practices for area and ensure best practices are followed.

Lead or participate in continuous improvement efforts.
-
Attends and leads on maintenance issues in shift overlaps, quality reviews, and daily meetings as required.

Ability to complete root cause failure analysis on issues involving reliability, product/packaging defects, downtime and slow time.

Effectively works and communicates with all departments (scheduling, engineering, R&D, IE, logistics, operations, etc.).

Maintenance Lead Assists Maintenance Manager with daily staffing.
-
This includes vacation planning for areas of responsibility. Collect and report shift information. Provide input during planning sessions with the other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Must be capable of working at elevated heights and or confined space

Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform)

Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 55 lbs.

Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust dirt and chemicals

Knowledge of local, federal, and industry regulations with regards to:

Food Safety (GMP, HACCP)

Food Quality (Product and Process)

Q&FS testing practices and procedures, QMP policies and SPC

Forklift assignments require OSHA certification and getting on and off frequently

Lead the development of standard work instructions that reflect best practices and follow-up to ensure they are used appropriately.

Conduct training (operational and technical) to ensure associates can perform standardized work within given time frames.

Lead associates in Kaizen events and other Lean activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Be 18 years of age or older
-
Several years’ experience in facility maintenance preferred
-
A good working knowledge of maintenance systems, planning and scheduling, and basic production systems and the ability to prioritize multiple activities with various risk levels
-
Good technical communication and teaching skills
-
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and minimal supervision
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Good basic math, reading and writing skills
-
Basic knowledge of personal computers
-
Good problem solving and/or troubleshooting skills
-
Ability to access relevant information about equipment and provide clear information about equipment condition and status, which would include any unscheduled downtime of equipment that hampers achieving the production schedule goals.

Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules
-
Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language
Preferred Qualifications:
-
3+ years of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines
-
2 years of work experience within manufacturing, or a technical and/or trade discipline

Working Knowledge of food safety, GMP, HACCP, SPC
-
Demonstrated competency in computer and pc software
-
Knowledge of inventory control principles
-
Ability to operate a forklift/OSHA certification

Previous experience leading people
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $34.85 - $41.00 USD
Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.
Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:
- Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.
- Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
- Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
- Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
- Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
- Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
