POSITION SUMMARY CLUES’ Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), Abriendo Caminos, will be providing immediate access to supportive, high-quality, culturally responsive, and integrated Behavioral Health services and pathways to wellness for the Latinx Community, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. The CCBHC model provides CLUES with a model for sustainable Behavioral Health service provision, which translates to increased access to consistent care for
wellness in the Latinx community.

CLUES’ CTSS Skills Trainer provides mental health skills training to children who qualify for receiving Children’s Therapeutic Supports and Services (CTSS). 

Department: Behavioral Health
Reports to: Senior Manager of Outpatient Mental Health & CTSS
Location: CLUES St. Paul, MN Office. Flexibility required to work from our Minneapolis location as needed.
Position Type: Regular
Schedule: Full-Time. Generally, Monday – Friday office hours, with occasional evening hours to accommodate clients as needed.
Estimated Pay: $21.50 to $25.00 (depending on experience & qualifications).

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide skills training to children within the CTSS program. Skills training is medically necessary when the child has lost behavioral skills or failed to develop behavioral skills compared to others of similar age as a result of their diagnosed mental health disorder. Skills training may also be delivered to help the youth to self-monitor, compensate for, cope with, counteract, or replace skills deficits or maladaptive skills acquired during the course of a psychiatric illness.
    • Skills training delivered to children, or their families must be targeted to the specific deficits or maladaptive behaviors of the child's mental health disorder and must be prescribed in the child's individual CTSS treatment plan.o    Skills training typically focuses on the child.  It can also include family skills training, which typically involves parents or caregivers.
    • Skills training delivered to the child's family must teach skills needed by parents/caregivers to enhance the child's skill development and to help the child use the skills and develop or maintain a home environment that supports the child's ongoing use of the skills.
    • Group skills training may be provided to multiple recipients who, because of the nature of their emotional, behavioral, or social dysfunction, can derive mutual benefit from interaction in a group setting.
  • Meet with clients at their home, school, in the community, via telehealth, or in-office to provide direct coping, anger management, conflict-resolution, attention to information, etc. skills training to the client.
  • Assist the parent/family in addressing areas relevant to the child’s skill acquisition, such as discipline, communication skills, and establishing rules and expectations.
  • Collaborate with the mental health professional providing psychotherapy to the client to promote coordinated service delivery. CLUES CTSS skills clients, as a general rule, must also be seen in therapy at CLUES.
  • Collaborate with community partners, such as schools, to implement skills training in community settings.
  • Maintain case history records and prepare reports. Ensure accurate records are maintained and kept up-to-date in accordance with agency and CTSS statutory requirements.
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, agency policies and other applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards.
  • Promote the mission, operating values, and agency services of CLUES within the community.  
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related field required.
  • 2 years of experience working with children and families preferred.  
  • Ability to maintain accurate and complete files and data collection documentation required.
  • Ability to have flexible work schedule required, may include some evening hours to accommodate clients as needed.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently to achieve program goals.
  • Understanding of HIPAA, confidentiality and professional boundaries, and ability to incorporate into daily job performance required.
  • Comfortable working with people from a diverse range of ethnic and social economic backgrounds.
  • Working knowledge of resources in the community required.
  • Must have a deep understanding of Latinx cultures, values, and traditions, and demonstrate cultural responsiveness in every aspect of the role, including communication with colleagues, staff, clients, community members; creating forms and documents; hiring and training staff; and in clinical supervision and consultation.
Language Skills 
  • Effective communication in Spanish and English, both verbally and in writing, required - includes ability to communicate clearly and concisely. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written materials, including reports, contracts, and proposals.  
  • Ability to effectively present ideas and information in and organized and effective manner, including writing reports. 
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and respond appropriately to questions from clients, co-workers, management and external parties.  
Transportation 
  • Must have a reliable motor vehicle for independent transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of automotive insurance, and maintain a good driving record. Must submit to and pass annual recertification of compliance with CLUES Automobile and Transportation Policy and driving record check.
  • Position requires driving and transporting clients at times in personal vehicle.  
Computer Skills 
  • Proficient working knowledge of email software, the Internet, databases, and common Windows-based programs, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.  
  • Must be willing to attend training to advance technical skills and maintain appropriate skill levels to perform job duties. 
     WORKING CONDITIONS Background check
  • Must pass a criminal background check, driving record check, and MS-604.20 background check. As a condition of continued employment, staff person may be required to submit to periodic re-verification of these background checks.
