Position Description 

Job Title: Park Crew Lead 

Reports To: Director, Park Operations  

SUMMARY 

Responsible for leading crew members and performing the general upkeep and maintenance of Piedmont Park. 

WHO WE ARE 

The Piedmont Park Conservancy is a donor-funded nonprofit organization working in partnership with the city of Atlanta to ensure Piedmont Park is an iconic park for all in Atlanta/metro Atlanta communities. The Conservancy makes Piedmont Park so much more than a greenspace; we provide an experience. 

The Conservancy contributes to the Parkâs beautification through detail-focused landscaping, volunteer projects and capital improvements. When visitors to the Park spend time at the Meadow, Active Oval, dog parks, pool, EnviroVentures Camp, the event facilities and the Green Market they are seeing the results of just some of the areas we have focused our efforts. 

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Park Crew Lead to join our team.â¯Â 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Lead and directly work with crew members to maintain landscaped areas of concern, projects and Venue Rental responsibilities including but NOT limited to a specific set of venue cleaning requirements, room set up and room break down.

Lead and directly work with crew members to maintain a professional image, which represents the philosophy of the Piedmont Park Conservancy with emphasis upon providing Park guests and clients with the highest level of customer service deemed possible.  Lead and directly work with crew members to maintain park grounds by litter removal, sweeping, blowing, raking, trimming, mowing, weeding, edging, aerating, de-thatching, cultivating, digging, watering and various other activities.  Lead and directly work with crew members on the operation and maintenance of a variety of light and heavy equipment and power tools relating to general maintenance, grounds maintenance and landscape installation.  Lead and work directly with crew members to maintain, repair and install automatic irrigation systems and the related fixtures.  Lead and work directly with crew members on the application of herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers on turf, trees, shrubs, ground covers, flowers and all other areas requiring weed and pest control on park grounds.  Lead and work directly with crew members on assisting with general maintenance of park buildings and facilities i.e. pressure washing, minor painting, and repairs.  Lead and work directly with crew members on the maintenance and generally repair other areas of the park.  Lead and work directly with crew members on assisting with the installation of new landscaping and the renovation of existing landscaping and related infrastructure.  Lead and work directly with crew members on reporting of any situation that might be potentially hazardous to the team and Park visitors.  Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Lead and work with crew members to complete all maintenance assignments, projects, and Venue Rental responsibilities. Ensure that the crew has necessary tools and materials to accomplish projects. Manage time, productivity, and material record keeping. Provide consistent and timely communication with crew, operations team and managers. Ensure adherence to high standards and quality of work. Recommend modifications based on field conditions, requests, and/or other issues. Utilize hands-on training philosophies and demonstrate a strong work ethic through your example. Promote safety, performance, and well-being of all the crew.  

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High School Diploma or G.E.D,   4 years or more of full time experience performing landscape maintenance.   Experience leading and managing others

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Performs physically demanding manual work lifting, pushing or pulling heavy objects and/or power equipment.   Exposure to adverse weather conditions.
