SUMMARY
Occupational Therapist will be responsible for assessing patients’ conditions, needs, and goals to establish effective therapy and treatment plans to help patients thrive. Occupational Therapist will carry out treatment plans and communicate with patients and their families/caregivers as necessary for purposes of defining, implementing and continually enhancing the integrative care services available to CRNA clients.

JOB DUTIES

  • Provide Occupational Therapy care services for CRNA clients as billable patient encounters.
  • Communicate with physicians and other health care providers, patients and their families, therapists, social workers, and other members of a collaborative care team to provide the recommended effective services for patients in the Copper River Native Association (CRNA) service area.
  • Coordinate and conduct various physical and psychological assessments and evaluations of clients to develop and follow treatment plans.
  • Effectively document the occupational therapy process in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Evaluates results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating patient’s progress and recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications.
  • Follow up on referrals to ensure continuing and appropriate care, and communicate with providers to ensure continuing holistic care.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with various healthcare providers, community resources and other Alaska Native organizations to facilitate care provision for CRNA clients.
  • Submit and record information necessary for insurance/Medicaid/Medicare/other claims, such as patient, insurance ID, diagnosis and treatment codes and modifiers, and provider information. Submit and file claims for billing/coding for patient encounters.
  • Maintain confidentiality in regard to all client, staff and program matters.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational training, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Comply with federal and state legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising supervisor on needed actions.
  • Educate staff, caregivers, and family members of clients on patient care.
  • Participate in and support community activities that are scheduled by CRNA.
  • Will abide by all of the CRNA Policy and Procedures Manuals and HR Manual as approved by the CRNA Board of Directors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

  • Strong understanding and sensitivity to Alaska Native culture and lifestyle, with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaska Native population.
  • Strong written, analytical, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills with sensitivity to lifestyles of targeted participants.
  • Skills in operating personal computer using a variety of computer software.
  • Ability to keep accurate records and produce timely and accurate written reports.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as required for HIPAA, other regulations and organization matters.
  • Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, including outside contacts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within teams.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

  • Master’s Degree (MOT or MSOT).
  • Currently licensed and registered to practice in the state of Alaska before employment start date. (OTR/L)
  • One (1) year of experience in direct client care.
  • A combination of experience, education, and training may substitute for degree requirements on a year for year basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

  • Doctoral degree in occupational therapy (OTD, OTR/L)
  • Three (3) years of experience in direct client care

WORKING CONDITIONS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The position corresponds to medium duty work, involving physical exertion of 20-50 lbs. frequently; such exertion involves the lifting and/ or moving of therapy equipment, young infants, and/or goods and materials within the facility. There is frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, and squatting/ crouching in an indoor classroom or therapy environment. The majority of the work is performed in a therapy or classroom setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. CRNA is a smoke free and tobacco free campus. May require local travel between compact services of CRNA which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. Works in an environment where protection of client confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided when and where needed.


SPECIFICATIONS
Supervision Received:
Work will be monitored through meetings, reports, and regular communication with the immediate supervisor. General guidelines for operations are based on program requirements, conditions of grant award(s), and the general policies and procedures of CRNA.
Supervision Exercised:
Position will exercise supervision of assigned staff and complete required documentation, including performance evaluations, training, and general oversight through direct reports.
Contacts:
Contacts include and not limited to volunteers, organizational staff, clients, and outside agencies.

  • CRNA has several positions which require a criminal background check for the safety of our clients. All employment offers in the "covered" classification are conditional until CRNA has received a Federal criminal background check verifying eligibility to work in these programs.
  • First Aide/CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire for required positions.
  • As applicable by position and company policy, must meet standards for fitness for duty, immunizations, credentialing and privileging.
