The Role

The Platform Orchestration team operates within the Platform User Experience function with a mission to create a world class user experience for the core technology platform used by engineering and research at G-Research. We are constantly engaging with customers to learn about their experience using the platform and explore opportunities to improve the platform user experience.

The ideal engineer for this role should be able to explore, learn, recommend and adopt technologies depending on the problem at hand while adopting a user centric approach to all design and decision-making processes. The ability to work with a high level of trust, autonomy, and agility is key to success in this role.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • User-Centric mindset with deep understanding and empathy for users.
  • Ability to advocate for user needs and to keep the users at the center of all design and decision-making processes
  • Software Development capabilities with one or more high level languages such as C#, Python, Go or Java
  • Object-oriented programming and strong problem solving skills
  • Experience with Cloud Engineering, Event Driven Architecture, and familiarity or willingness to learn working with Kubernetes and containers
  • Familiarity or willingness to learn front end development using JavaScript, React and TypeScript
  • Use of operational / runtime tools and practices, including monitoring and logging with systems such as Prometheus and Grafana
  • Experience working with source code management and dependency management tools such as GitHub and Artifactory
  • Experience working with CI/CD Pipelines such as Jenkins, or ArgoCD
  • Ability to be productive in an environment with a high level of autonomy and agility
  • A strong desire to continually learn new technologies, approaches and systems
  • Willingness to learn by working with users across different business areas, experiences and cultures to drive towards the best outcome for the organization
  • A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, performance bottlenecks, and process improvements
  • The ability to understand the inherent trade-offs between various software architectures as it relates to performance, resiliency, fault tolerance, load balancing, and data consistency
