To provide a basic understanding of golf course operations and practices, a wide exposure to ANGC golf course maintenance when possible. This person, with their knowledge of agronomics and equipment operation, supports the Golf Course maintenance staff in its mission to ANGC.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Assists in pesticide and fertilizer applications.
  • Performs calibrations of spreader and sprayer units.
  • Mows greens, approaches, collars, fairways, second cut, etc. with appropriate equipment in a safe and timely manner.
  • Portrays an image which reflects positively on all ANGC, members, guests, patrons and fellow employees.
  • Administers ANGC water management philosophy for summer and seasonal situations with regards to Bent grass, Perennial ryegrass and various varieties of Bermuda grasses.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe, clean and efficient work environment at all times.
  • Operates, inspects, and cleans equipment in strict accordance with ANGC operational and safety guidelines, report unsafe equipment or activities to appropriate supervisor.
  • Identifies disease and pest issues using ANGC resources and reports them to management.
  • Assists in irrigation repair and maintenance.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proposes improvement ideas to the Golf Course Management team.
  • Properly utilizes safety equipment provided by ANGC.
  • Works in a manner which does not disrupt the members and their guests.
  • Performs all other duties deemed by management to be an integral part of the job.

Qualifications (required unless stated otherwise):

        Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:

  • Basic knowledge and operational experience of turf equipment
  • Basic understanding of the fundamentals of golf course etiquette in a private atmosphere

Experience/Education:

  • Participant of an accredited Turf program or related field
  • Previous experience in landscaping or grounds keeping environment required

Required License(s):

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and/or successfully completes the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work for this position is usually performed in a climate-controlled environment.  However, the employee may be required to work outside in extreme heat, cold, rain, wind or inclement weather as the demands of the position so dictate.

This position will expose employees to the following, but not limited to; carbon monoxide fumes from equipment, various insects and animals, electrical outlets and wiring, grease and hot oils from equipment, high noise levels, flying golf balls, welding devices with open flame, a variety of grinders, saws, fans, etc., along with dirt, mud, pollen, and approved pesticides.  Equipment used includes but is not limited to; fly mower, Weedeater, Squeegee, sod cutter, Levelawn, portable gas container, bucket, rag, soap and water, soil floating devices, utility type vehicle, skid loader, forklift, utility trailer, dump trailer, miscellaneous hand tools, hand and mechanical edgers, tractor shovels, various rakes, hammers, staple and glue.  Safety equipment includes; goggles, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, seat belts, hard hat, gloves, rain suit, appropriate protective respiratory devices and insect repellant.

Positions at Augusta National Golf Club require a COVID-19 vaccination. Applicants who are offered a position will be asked their vaccination status which will be considered in accordance with applicable law.

Projected Work Schedule:

Normal work hours are 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as dictated by the needs of the business.

The employee is frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently required to talk and/or hear.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to use arms, hands and fingers to handle or lift items.  The employee is constantly required to stand and walk, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms and/or drive a golf cart.  The employee is also required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as but not limited to: preparing and analyzing data and figures, visual inspection involving property maintenance, hazards and safety violations, and/or operation of machines (including inspection).
