Software Engineer I - Internal Development Team
Why We Have This Role
At Qualtrics, teams from various departments use internal tooling developed in-house to solve problems that cannot be solved by purchasing out-of-the-box 3rd party software. The team architects, develops, and maintains a collection of such internal software, providing platform functionality to other engineering teams and building applications that power business critical processes for Qualtrics.

We need engineers who excel at working cross-team and cross-functionally. Our engineers, at every level, participate in design and architecture, requirements gathering, full stack development and delivery, operations, quality, and optimization. Successful engineers are excited to envision the future of Qualtrics data and anticipate internal and external customer needs that donât exist yet.
We expect all of our contributors to have a bachelorâs degree in Computer Science or a related field, and to be capable of demonstrating expertise in algorithmic execution, data structures and data modeling, as well as the ability to estimate and deliver on coding objectives.

Things Youâll Do

Design and develop scalable, robust, and highly available data intensive services

Implement new features and optimize existing ones to provide customer value

Establish and refine operational practices to ensure high availability and reliability of voice processing systems

Attend daily stand-up meetings, collaborate with your peers, prioritize features, serve on an on-call rotation, and consistently deliver value to both Qualtrics employees and customers

Work directly with cross-function stakeholders and users of the tools youâre developing to understand needs, iterate on your designs, and automate workflows
What Weâre Looking For On Your Resume
-
Some experience through internships, academic projects, or personal projects involving software development.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or in progress).

0.5 - 2 years of previous experience
-
Strong algorithms, data structures and coding background, familiarity with object-oriented design principles.

Experience with software engineering best practices (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documents, architecture reviews). disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance.

Basic understanding of distributed systems and concepts like the CAP theorem.

Interest in AWS services and cloud computing.

Development experience in a high level language, such as Javascript, PHP, or Python (bonus points for experience with NodeJS and React)

Database experience (preferably SQL)

An incident management system that streamlines coordinating incident resolution, aggregates and links information across various systems (Jira, slack threads, etc.), and simplifies on-call paging to pull in the right groups based on metrics health and other criteria.
