Lightning is the official mascot for the Dallas Wings of the WNBA. We are looking for an energetic man or woman 18 years of age or older with mascot experience to be the talent behind Lightning for the Dallas Wings.  

The ideal candidate will provide entertainment as our official mascot performer, mostly for outside community appearances and potential games as needed. During the games and outside events, the mascot will work closely with the Flight Crew or promotional team, to keep the energy high and ensure our fans have a memorable experience at every game.  

Primary Duties / Responsibilities:   

• Interact with fans throughout the game to promote the Wings brand and enhance the fan experience at College Park Center
• Participate in pre-game ceremonies and in-game promotions with great stage presence 
• Motivate and energize fans throughout the game to keep the entertainment level in a positive and professional manner
• Initiate chants, claps and cheers to get the crowd excited during key basketball moments
• Create, innovate and improvise in-game performances and fan interactions
• Preserve the identity of our mascot without deviating from established character including:
  • Body language/ mannerisms
  • Communicating and expressing yourself non-verbally
• Manage and maintain Lightning costume, props and other items
• Represent the organization professionally and appropriately at all times, inside and outside the costume
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:   

• Flexibility to work nights and weekends
• Must be available to arrive 2-3 hours before tipoff
• Most games average about 5 hours, possibly more with overtime games etc.
• Must be comfortable and have experience performing in front of large crowds
• Must be in good physical condition with the ability to work in a costume for hours at a time
• Must work well in a team environment
• Previous customer service experience is preferred
• Must have a positive attitude with fans and team personnel
• Must have creativity and an ability to communicate through body language 
• Dance Experience Preferred

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time. 
• Hearing, seeing, reading, writing, concentration, comprehension, and talking with clear speech.
• Planning, organizing, interpreting data, making decisions, problem-solving, and composure under deadlines/stress.
• Must be between 5’6” and 5’8”.

The mascot position is a part-time/seasonal position.
