The Portfolio Cloud Architect - AWS in this position will provide technical leadership for cloud systems designs, deep analysis of cloud spend savings opportunities, design and development/build of cloud optimization automation to drive cloud utilization efficiencies, along with design and development/build of FinOps tooling to enable enhanced visibility to cloud spend data, driving great enhanced cloud spend management and stewardship of Deltas financial resources. Additionally, responsibilities will include evaluation of new cloud services, and automation and tooling of these cloud services to support Developer Self-Service (DevOps) capabilities for development and deployment of complex, well-architected and cost-optimized capabilities into AWS. 

The Portfolio Cloud Architect - AWS will provide technical cloud leadership, development of internal Delta Cloud Enablement & Optimization curriculum, creation of How-Guides, FAQs and other Delta-specific educational material to Educate & Equip staff across the entire Delta IT organization. Mentoring team members and senior development staff across the IT Org will be key to this candidate's success. The Portfolio Cloud Architect - AWS will also consult with development teams to ensure development and deployment patterns align to the business capability requirements, as we lead the IT Org to FinOps maturity of Unit Economics. This position reports to the Director of Cloud FinOps and Technology Governance within the RAISE organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE

  • Provide technical leadership and expertise for AWS system designs and FinOps cost optimizations
  • Lead definition of standards and patterns for well-architected and cost optimized workload deployments
  • Lead design and development of automation of AWS integration processes and tasks 
  • Design and develop FinOps tools to enable dev teams and IT leaders to efficiently manage cloud spend in their AWS accounts
  • Lead design and development of FinOps Dashboards to surface actionable data to IT staff for cloud and cost optimizations
  • Drive establishment and maturation of a FinOps culture for optimized cloud spend management
  • Contribute to creation and upkeep of FinOps FAQs, How-To Guides and Knowledgebase content
  • Provide leadership in identifying new concepts, ideas and techniques for optimized cloud spend management
  • Perform cost benefit analysis to determine cost optimized system architectures 
  • Mentor engineering and development staff on public cloud integration design, automation development, and cost-optimized design patterns
  • Design and maintain standard templates, reference architectures, and design patterns that aid other Cloud Engineers in development of standards-based designs

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • 6+ years of Senior Cloud Architect experience in design and implementation of large enterprise public cloud environments
  • AWS Certified Professional certification desired
  • 4+ years of experience leading, mentoring & growing a team of Cloud Architects and Engineers
  • Deep understanding of AWS services such as IAM, VPCs, Landing Zones, Control Tower, AVM (Account Vending Machine), EC2, EBS, KMS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Systems Manager, S3, RDS, Route53, Lambda, AWS Config, etc.)
  • Experience building and securing infrastructure as code using CloudFormation, Ansible, Java, Python and/or similar tools and languages.
  • Fluency with one or more scripting/coding languages such as Java, Javascript, REST, JSON, Python, bash
  • Experience analyzing and optimizing logging and monitoring patterns
  • Proven record of accomplishments in large enterprise environments
  • Experience in design of complex distributed systems environments
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
  • Ability to clearly communicate and present technical recommendations to various levels of the organization, including senior IT leadership
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Independent, self-motivated and details-oriented worker
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data. 
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles. 
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
