Job OverviewKomatsu is currently looking to hire a Field Machinist to join our Fort Meade, FL plant. The candidate will be responsible for adjusting equipment during production to ensure product meets specifications. The operator will machine production parts per the schedule. Ensure all usable tooling is properly replaced and confirm that proper tooling and inserts are being used per the set-up requirements. Must possess and demonstrate knowledge of the Quality Policy and how it relates to customer requirements.

- Ability to operate line bore and bore tec.
- Plan and lay out work, utilizing basic knowledge of trigonometry and geometry.
- Welding experience, fabrication, and build up work.
- Flexible work schedule and flexibility with travel based on the overall needs of the company.
- Operate cranes on service truck.
- Welding repairs to heavy structural components per OEM procedures – working independently.
- Use prescribed procedures to inspect part(s) and product(s) produced to assure compliance to specifications that will eliminate defects, scrap, rework, etc.
- Secure and fabricate necessary tools and materials following verbal or written instructions, samples, or prints.
- Utilize measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauge and other measuring equipment needed to complete work.
- Ability to machine/line bore Komatsu parts to print inspect.
- Highschool diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years’ experience with machining, line boring or equivalent education/experience required.
- Understanding of component structural integrity and metallurgy.
- Use of advanced trade’s mathematics, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas, all varieties of precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to utilize interpersonal and communication techniques, working in a team environment, and dealing with a wide variety or personalities and communication styles.
- Skills in performing mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fraction, and decimals.
- Ability to work well under pressure; meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting headlines and at all times demonstrates cooperative behavior with coworkers and Lead.
- Ability to communicate information clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to interpret complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas.
- Ability to use all varieties of precision measuring instruments.
