Are you ambitious, determined for success, full of energy, and a fantastic Chef?

An exciting, new, high-volume seafood restaurant opening up in Downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia seeks an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Head Chef to join its team. This individual will play a key role in creating a new menu that celebrates cuisine and encourages daily culinary creativity. There will also be an opportunity to work closely with local vendors to help deliver that fresh local food/seafood our guests crave. The Head Chef will work hand in hand with the restaurant's Operating Partners to help drive some critical basic controls like food cost, labor, retention of employees & cleanliness within the four walls of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

Menu Development - Create and update menus to reflect seasonal ingredients, culinary trends, and customer preferences; develop innovative and appealing dishes that maintain the restaurant's reputation and attract customers. Source unique ingredients for the menus and keeping stock levels fully up-to-date. Work closely with the entire team to guarantee a smooth operational process, particularly during the initial launch period. Keep a sparkling clean kitchen and work area (as this is where we serve food). Maintain sanitation procedures and organization daily. Placing food orders, scheduling, budgeting, and inventory controls. Oversee all facets of kitchen operations, paying close attention to detail, food quality, and hygiene standards. Organize, employ, train new staff and motivating staff in the kitchen and on the restaurant floor. Develop and manage budgets and finances for the kitchen. Assisting kitchen staff with food prep and recipe creation. Purchasing food and supplies from vendors approved by the company. Attend weekly restaurant team meetings.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Head Chef with strong Seafood knowledge. Profound knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and flavor profile. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Meticulous attention to detail and a dedication to top-tier food quality and presentation. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting and handle pressure with poise. Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices in food handling. Possession of a culinary degree or equivalent certification is typically preferred, but practical experience can also suffice. Exceptional verbal, written, and computer skills. Skilled in crafting innovative menus and launching new dining establishments.
