This is a full-time, exempt position.
Position Summary:
As a Commodity Trader at ADM, you help secure supply chains that are critical to sustainably feed the worlds growing population. In this dynamic role, you will have responsibility for the procurement of grain and oilseeds, and/or the marketing of finished goods to achieve optimum financial results for building and maintaining relationships with customers as well as colleagues from other ADM facilities, the handling of logistics, accounting, execution and other customer related issues. As a core member of the trading team, you that is tasked with the strategy for margin generation of a facility, or region, and is responsible for recommending trading and marketing strategies and overseeing logistics execution for the region of responsibility.

Additionally, in their roles, Merchandisers balance risk management, customer relationships, transportation and logisticsBuilds & maintains positive relationships with accounts that bring defined valueSeeks out new business that would profitably enhance ADM company assetsUnderstands customer requirements and strives to meet them to differentiate ourselves from competitionMaintains a clear customer account list and provides detailed background information in filesHandles all accounting related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer serviceWorks to make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logicallyDevelops a keen understanding of local, national, & world markets & trendsPurposefully makes outbound phone calls to deliver and receive timely market informationPrice discovery and bid/offer maintenance to improve risk management and pricingUnderstanding of margin calculations & their effect on commodity pricing; Ensures the most cost-efficient transportation and logisticsUnderstands the value of ADM owned transportation (i.e. barges, trucks and railcars)Develops a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activitiesDevelops a keen understanding and working knowledge of ADM information technology systemsEnsures that individual goals are aligned with company goalsConstantly works on individual personal development within the companyDevelops good understanding of local plant operationsWorks to attain positive, collaborative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions & responsibilitiesPortrays a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customers & colleaguesPrepares and submits daily & ad hoc reportsQualifications:Bachelor's degree; business or agriculture focus is preferred
