Position Title: Trading Analyst

The Trading Analyst will be required to support the execution of trades, monitor trade activity, and perform the required market data analysis to advise the Vice President, Commercial and marketing team on emerging trends. The incumbent will be accountable for coordinating the creation and maintenance of supply/demand models, accounting spreadsheets, price forecasting, price risk controls and physical bid/offer structures, as well as monitoring of market regulations and various front office analysis, evaluations, and reporting. The position is required to provide related support to the group of companies, its subsidiaries and new business ventures as required.  

The successful candidate will act as a key trading resource, driving opportunity identification/capture, via understanding supply/demand balance, arbitrage analysis, tracking of specific commodity movements, import/exports, trade flow analysis, and blending opportunities. This includes linking with your fellow trading analysts across the globe and across the barrel.  

The key deliverables include:  

- Developing and presenting ongoing/unique trade strategies, connecting market fundamentals with proprietary insights, utilizing advanced analytics in conjunction with supply and demand models.

- Providing economic analysis for opportunity evaluation and capture learnings from missed opportunities.  

- Supporting derivatives trading and policy with analysis of new and existing usage of derivative instruments.  

- Developing strong collaborative relationships with key trading partners, both domestically and globally, in order to drive trade execution and value creation.  

- Contributing to special projects, strategy studies, and market entries.  

- Completing analysis and reporting for trading performance. Support annual plan development.  

- Supporting Trading Management.  

Nature & Scope  

The incumbent will act as a key trading resource, servicing opportunity identification / capture via, understanding supply/demand balances and trade flows, developing arbitrage analysis, tracking commodity movements, and monitoring market events. This involves working with multiple functional groups and business units.  

Duties & Responsibilities  

1. Support all commercial operations activities from market analysis, through to physical delivery.  

2. Responsible for modelling of market supply and demand, with associated pricing thresholds.  

3. Maintain price curves and other reports.  

4. Develop expertise in CTRM system, acting as a subject matter expert for the commercial team.  

5. Preparing reports on market trends, trade statistics, and other relevant information about the industry or geographic area of focus.  

6. Support Data & Risk Analytics and Commercial Due Diligence on growth initiatives.  

7. Analysing data from multiple sources to predict changes in consumer demand for products or services  

8. Producing analytical led market views to support trading decisions.  

9. Researching / highlighting key market events impacting the sector.  

10. Developing trade strategies by producing and connecting market fundamentals / insights, utilizing advanced analytics in conjunction with supply and demand models  

11. Developing strong collaborative relationships with wider analytical / trading community, both domestically and globally, in order to drive value creation.  

12. Acting as power-user of strategic tools that support trading activities: Data systems, Commodity trading and Risk Systems  

13. Contributing to special projects, strategy studies and support of annual plan development  

14. Producing ad-hoc analysis as requested by Marketing Representatives and the commercial department

15. Optimization of commodity sales portfolio.  

16. Daily nominations, scheduling, balancing and cost allocations  

 

Specifications

-Bachelor's degree in Business management, Mathematics, Economics, Natural Sciences or related field.
-Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience
-Five (5) to Seven (7) years' experience in trading or in a marketing/commercial function.
-Experience in supply chain optimization, and business strategy.

OR

-A combination of Education, Technical Training, and ten (10) years of experience in trading or in Marketing/Commercial function.
-Experience in supply chain optimization, and business strategy.

Specific Skills and Knowledge

- Strong Analytical and Advanced Computer Skills
-Proficiency in advanced analytics and data visualization e.g., Power B
-Knowledge and experience of US Natural Gas Liquid Markets
- Experience in Export Waterborne and well as Domestic US NGL Trading
- Teamwork- ability to function effectively in diverse teams.
- Good presentation skills
- Effective communication skills
