The individual selected for this position performs the following:

Garage Maintenance

Serves as garage attendant in SOB’s garages. Obtains personal and vehicle information from clients for use in creating parking identification tags for authorized vehicles.

Provides vehicle and driver’s identification information to the Rules Committee for assignment of parking spaces. Receives parking identification stickers from the Committee and applies to vehicles.

Maintains a database of vehicles in the garages. Checks to confirm that authorized vehicles are properly parked in assigned spaces. Contacts U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) to request towing of unauthorized or improperly parked vehicles.

Operates scrubbing and sweeping equipment to maintain cleanliness of garage areas.

Assists Capitol Grounds crews, as necessary, to apply salt around SOBs and USCP to reduce hazards related to slick or icy conditions due to snow and freezing temperatures.

Mechanical Maintenance

Assists journey level mechanics to perform emergency repairs on automobiles owned by Senators, staff or official visitors which have become inoperable in or near garage area.

Performs basic maintenance and repair on Trucks and Vehicles mechanized cleaners and scrubbers,  which have utility systems or special hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical or electronic systems, features or controls.

Painting

Performs painting tasks. Applies paint and epoxy resins on wood, metal, glass, concrete and other surfaces using brushes, rollers, spray cans and other methods and techniques of the trade.

Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding and wire brushing.

Performs other duties as assigned.
