Characterization of solid samples using specialized techniques such as single crystal X–ray diffraction (i.e. single crystal mounting, data collection), powder X–ray diffraction and solid–state NMR.
Maintaining the operational aspects of X–ray diffractometers (single crystal diffractometer and powder X–ray diffractometer)
In some cases, hands–on generation of solid–state chemistry data using other laboratory techniques such as polarized microscopy, thermal analysis, and water vapor sorption.
