Qualifications:
- Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologists must have a minimum of two years’ current experience in this field and recent Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience in a hospital setting including covering inpatient units, ED and ICU. Maintains current clinical skill and credentialing through in-service programs, continuing education to include evidence of a certificate as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Nuclear Medicine (NM) and a registry number, or certificate to perform as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and professional publications.

Duties:
The services of Registered Nuclear Medicine NM Technologists have responsibility for providing a wide range of specialized nuclear medicine procedures, including diagnostic imaging, therapy with unsealed radioactive materials, radioassay, in[1]vivo or in-vitro cell labeling; evaluating abnormal results; using and maintaining equipment; setting up and monitoring quality control; working within guidelines from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), National Health Physics Program (NHPP), Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) among others. These exams will be performed at a minimum 100% of the workweek. Coordinates a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the diagnosis of disease. Knows and understands the principles of nuclear medicine and the highly specialized equipment well enough to essentially approve the acceptability or reject ability of each scan. Collaborates on surgical and research procedures under the supervision of a licensed independent practitioner. Evaluates the nature of critical and emergency procedures, and rearranges patients scheduled to accommodate them. Explains examinations to be performed to the patients so that an understanding of the purpose of the study as well as any requirements of the patients is thoroughly understood. This is done so that an adequate study may be obtained to get diagnostic examinations for the purpose of treatment and diagnosis of disorders. Advises radiologists or referring clinician of significant abnormalities that would require their immediate attention and visualization while the patient is undergoing specific examination. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist at this level must be able to work independently and make appropriate decisions with little interaction from the supervisor. The incumbent works at a teaching medical center and will support the training and mentoring of students and residents. Technologist performs technical work in support of Diagnostic Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, under the direction of a physician.
- Schedule: Tour of duty assignments are inclusive of Federal Holidays. Total work week is 40 hours. The clinics are open 24/7.
