The Worldwide Tax group at LyondellBasell is a collection of over 70 dynamic individuals located in multiple countries that work diligently to comply with our Company’s regulatory requirements and enhance shareholder value. Globally, we consist of U.S. federal, state, and non-U.S. compliance, global tax accounting for both U.S. GAAP and IFRS tax reporting processes, and global tax planning teams. We are also heavily focused on enhancements and process efficiencies through tax technology and have a group of Tax Excellence professionals. Our group operates on a hybrid work schedule with the ability to work remotely 3 days per week. We have a Core Collaboration day across Finance on Wednesdays with other office days at each team member’s discretion.    

 

The Tax Manager, Assistant for our Global Tax Reporting group will contribute significantly to the tax reporting function by assisting in the review and preparation of the quarterly and annual global tax reporting process. This position will also collaborate with members of our Non-US Tax Reporting team, as well as local country tax teams. There will also be the opportunity to assist in mentoring and developing staff members and lead various special projects.

A Day In The Life:

• Lead the preparation and/or review of quarterly and year-end tax provision schedules for domestic, local country, and worldwide tax provisions under the principles of ASC 740, including, but not limited to: 
• Provide first level review of items prepared by other staff members and manage the timely delivery of high quality work product;
• Assist in the review and/or preparation of the quarterly executive tax package;
• Assist in review and/or preparation of required footnotes and disclosures; 
• Assist in review and/or preparation of worldwide current and deferred tax calculation; 
• Assist in review and/or preparation of FIN 48 calculation and workpapers;
• Assist in review and/or preparation of effective tax rate analysis;
• Assist in review and/or preparation of quarterly tax account roll forwards,  reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Assist in review and/or preparation of certain return to accrual and tax basis balance sheet computations
• Assist in preparing and maintaining a work plan to manage the global tax reporting deliverables to ensure deadlines are met
• Research advanced tax accounting issues and assist in drafting clear and concise technical memorandum
• Assist or take the lead on various special projects as needed, including but not limited to: forecasting of the ETR and CTR, Country by Country Reporting, various transactions, Tax Reporting team process improvement projects, etc. 
• Assist in mentoring, training, and developing staff in the areas of technical tax accounting and professional development
• Assist in maintaining/creating key relationships with others within and outside the tax department in order to ensure expectations and deadlines are met for our stakeholders
• Superuser for the Tax Reporting team with respect to various tax technology including Alteryx and OneSource Tax Provision. This includes thinking proactively and critically about how to leverage tax technology to make Tax Reporting processes more efficient and effective. 

You Bring This Value:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. 
• CPA or Master’s degree is not required but preferred.  

Work Experience 

• Typically 6 years of relevant and accretive work experience with a public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department. 

Other skills

• Solid understanding of tax accounting concepts and tax technical and research skills.
• Solid understanding of income tax principles as well as standard corporate book/tax differences.
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to efficiently work against deadlines and to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Experience working on a global consolidated tax provision for a multi-national company. 
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
• OneSource Tax Provision experience preferred.
• Proficient with accounting systems, SAP/OneStream experience is a plus.
• Alteryx and/or Power BI experience is an advantage.
