Duties

The selectee will be performing the duties of Planner/Estimator for Facilities Maintenance Branch, Public Works Division, Facilities Engineering Department, at the USCG Base, Kodiak.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include:

  • Preparing detailed, itemized Government estimates for all contracted out work either to BOSS contractor or out for open bid.
  • Reviewing scope of work and all plans and specifications for reasonableness and completeness during estimating process.
  • Initiating procurements of materials/equipment required for job orders utilizing government furnished materials or equipment.
  • Reviewing contract plans and specifications of proposed improvements or new construction projects for errors or omissions that may effect the operation or maintenance of the Base.
  • Inspecting various buildings and/or systems on the Base as directed and providing written reports of the nature and extent of deficiencies, and recommending procedures for their corrections.  
  • Developing design documents and drawings for work orders and projects.
