As an Instrument and Electrical Technician Apprentice in our Wyandotte, MI production facility, you will make an impact on the world with a fundamental focus on sustainability. As an Instrument and Electrical Technician Apprentice, you will be a part of a team which produces products that go into ski boots, seat cushions, car parts, sports equipment, pharmaceuticals, and home care products, and more. 
 

Starting on or about August 5th, 2024, you…
Will begin or continue an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Electrical Engineering Technology program at Henry Ford Community College while working and learning at our Wyandotte, MI production facility from some of the best in the business. During your time here we do not want you to sweat the small stuff so BASF will cover the entire cost of your educational program, including books 
 

When you are not studying you will have opportunities to…

 

•   Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and document plant instrumentation activities on, but not limited to: 

o    Transmitters (flow, level, pressure, temperature, etc.)

o    Measuring Elements

o    Control valves, automated valves, MOV’s, etc. 

•    Acquire basic knowledge of DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controllers)
•    Work on and troubleshoot equipment with voltages up to 480 VAC
•    Track and update assigned tasks in the maintenance management system (SAP) on daily basis.
•    Read and update electrical and instrument documents such as schematics, specifications, P&IDs and one-line diagrams.

•    Have a HS Diploma or GED
•    Can work in a plant environment and lift 50lbs
•    Can work 8hr fixed day shift (with the possibility for weekends and holidays) 
•    Will enroll in a degree program to launch a career in Manufacturing 
•    Can work on different structure levels, requiring the climbing of stairs, walking on metal walkways and grating, working at heights, etc., as well as being able to work in areas both inside and outside in varying weather conditions.
