The National Science Teaching Association seeks a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Director of Membership & Strategic Partnerships to join our dynamic organization. This position is responsible for NSTA's overall membership growth and retention strategy as well as for developing strategic partnerships with relevant organizations. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this position reports to the CEO.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of NSTA's membership strategy, including defining membership value proposition and executing member retention and recruitment efforts.
  • Oversees all membership tracking and reporting data, including but not limited to accurate membership records, membership trend analysis by state and region, current, new and prospective member information, and member experience throughout join and renewal process.
  • Develops strategies and programs to stimulate member engagement to improve membership renewal and retention.
  • Identifies opportunities and collaborates with other departments to enhance member benefits and services offered by the Association.
  • Works closely with volunteer leaders to build an inclusive member community that supports a sense of belonging and engages members in volunteer roles.
  • With assistance and guidance from the Finance Department, prepares financial assumptions, develops budgets, reviews monthly statements, builds financial projections and manages revenue and expenses to achieve targets.
  • Oversees and manages reconciliation and financial reports from the accounting system to the association management system and participates in preparation of annual audits.
  • Oversees membership renewal billing.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure that the member perspective is considered.
  • In collaboration with the Competition and Awards division, manages NSTA Teacher Awards program.
  • Identifies and negotiates strategic relationships to grow strong partnership portfolio. Serves as liaison and manages relationships between NSTA, state partners and affiliates.
  • Provides solutions through consultation, planning, tools, resources, and high-level strategic initiatives, to ultimately impact member growth.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Office assists with Leadership Council management.
  • Represents NSTA at national and state association conferences annually to promote NSTA membership recruitment and retention.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years minimum experience with association management, project management, process management, sales support and/ or account management
  • Proven track record of delivering organizational efficiencies
  • Previous experience leveraging action plans to facilitate work
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, facilitation, decision-making, interpersonal communication and time management skills
  • Understands business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to profitability; Demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; Aligns work with strategic goals
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and leaders across the organization
  • Effective at managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • A self-starter who is proactive and take initiative
  • Comfortable speaking in a group
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Microsoft Office Suite, Experience with Aptify, Personify, IMIS or another large AMS platform
  • Travel and evening hours required at times

SALARY RANGE

$120-$125K annually
