Purpose Statement

Perform basic mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electronic repair and preventative maintenance on all plant equipment.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes
  • Trouble shooting and diagnosis of mechanical and electrical failures.
  • Preventative maintenance on all plant equipment.
  • Perform welding, cutting and soldering using electric and gas equipment.
  • Occasionally must work in refrigerated areas where temperature extremes can reach 10 degrees F.
  • Follow all GMP's, food safety, and quality policies.
  • Ensures all GMP and all Food hygiene and Food safety standards are in compliance.
  • Report all food safety incidents such as GMP violations, ingredient and product contamination, metal detector, screen, or magnet deficiencies, glass breakage, and pest harborage.
  • Ensure compliance in the areas of food defense, food regulations, and product / process quality; provide adequate coaching as needed.
  • Record accurate and legible results on documentation
  • Provide adequate housekeeping at all times.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Special certification may be required for use of forklift and chemicals and certain mechanical skills
  • Knowledge, skills, and ability to operate computer programs as needed
  • One year experience in a manufacturing/ industrial environment as a mechanic
  • Medium to high degree of judgment required
  • Basic math skills necessary
  • A high degree of judgment is required for this job.
  • Must occasionally test energized electrical equipment, or pressurized hydraulic devices to trouble shoot before repairing.
  • Mechanics must service equipment from elevated surfaces or from ladder with exposure to falls always present.
