As an analytical scientist, you will play a critical role in ensuring our drug candidates are well characterized, our testing associated with our manufacturing processes are well understood, and our regulatory filings are well written. You can expect to work on multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced and exciting environment.
On normal workdays, you will deploy a phase appropriate philosophy to establish a product’s specifications, work directly with our CDMOs to provide insight into method development, support IPC development, monitor stability programs and document results in regulatory filings.
Support corporate efforts to industrialize drug discovery and development. Develop processes and systems that will facilitate the advancement of drug candidates through clinical trials and commercialized products. Lead in and/or Contribute to the development and validation of reliable test methods, the design and implementation of effective characterization stability or other studies through appropriate protocols, meaningful data reviews and accurate reports. Support the development of stability studies management and analytical standards across programs. Create processes to support stability studies management and analytical standards across programs. Author or contribute to the development of regulatory documents in support of global submissions (INDs, IMPDs, NDAs, briefing packages, etc.). Innovate using new technologies to expedite delivery in order to decrease drug development time.Location:
Making Salt Lake City your home base is ideal, however, we will consider remote work for this position. We ask that remote employees commit to regular on-site visits for routine work and departmental events.
The Team You’ll Join
Reporting to the Director of Analytical Chemistry, you will be an integral member of the Recursion Development Team. You will contribute to the analytical development activities within a fast-paced, goal oriented, clinical development environment and to the larger Recursion goal of industrializing the development of medicines.
The Experience You’ll Need
Ph.D. or MS in Analytical chemistry or closely related field with 3+ years’ experience. Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years’ experience will be considered. Experience working with small molecules (preferably new chemical entities) in Phase 1/2 development. Familiarity with a range of analytical techniques chromatography, spectroscopies, compendial and other drug substance and drug product characterization techniques. Familiarity with coupled techniques such as LC-MS GC-MS, q-nmr and, the use non-traditional detectors would be an advantage. Conversant with method development, validation, stability and other characterization studies as well as with the review of associated protocols, reports, data in a GMP compliant fashion. Experience working with CDMOs is a plus. A cross-functional understanding of drug development related quality and regulatory affairs.

Active partnership with your supervisor and CMC colleagues who will provide support in your training process during first 90 days to ensure quick ramp up. Ability to participate and learn from your colleagues in our regular journal club & tech talks to see how innovative solutions can be developed and deployed to industrialize to scale. At Recursion, we believe that every employee should be compensated fairly. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is:
Developing: $117,000 Skilled: $130,000 Expert: $143,000To learn more about our level within levels, clickhere.
You will also be eligible for bonuses and equity compensation + our comprehensive benefits package for United States based candidates. The range displayed on each job posting reflects target ranges for US new hire salaries and is determined by job, level, and market factors.
