Position Overview

The Chief Engineer has the supervisory responsibility for the safe overall operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and environmental systems of assigned equipment and personnel.

Location

This role will be based out of Loisiana, but employee can reside anywhere throughout the Gulf Coast or Eastern Seaboard.

This position will work on a 21 DAYS ON / 21 DAYS OFF.

Responsibilities

• Ensures vessel and operational compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory agencies of assigned equipment and personnel.
• Requisition spare parts, fuel, lubrication oils, and other material needed for the efficient and safe operation of the engine room
• Communicates with Port Engineer in regards to vessel repairs and maintenance
• Complete Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and or Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA)
• Keep payroll records of engine room crew and review their performance
• Assign engine room personnel to perform regular maintenance and repairs to pumps, motors, diesel engines, and other equipment on the dredge and attending plant
• Supervise repairs to ensure that they are performed in accordance with specifications and standards
• Keep accurate records in order to create engine room logs, inventories and maintenance history
• Track and order fuel, oil, and water
• Determine maintenance priorities
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Technical Group

Qualifications

• 5+ years on a Cutter dredge and/or qualified engine room experience preferred
• Ability to work 84-hour work week
• Ability to live aboard vessel for full rotation
• Willingness and ability to travel as required
• Proficient skills in standard office software packages
• Supervisory experience preferred
• This position requires fluent use of the verbal and written English language and understand hand signals

Required Certifications or Licenses

• Driver's license
• Merchant Mariner Credential (preferred)
