About the Position: The incumbent performs a variety of duties involved with the installation, trouble shooting, repair, relocating, overhaul and modification of various special-purpose Heating Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) units and systems.



Duties
  • Installs, repairs and maintains Heating Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems which frequently must be modified to meet specific and critical conditions in laboratories and other experimental and test activities.
  • Dismantles, repairs and reassembles units such as compressors, pumps, valves, fans and bearings.
  • Operates, adjusts and repairs HVAC and refrigeration systems which are controlled by computer-based systems.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains large, complex, high- and low-pressure heat exchangers having a great variety of complicated components, parts, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Traces and locates equipment failures, determines the repairs needed, and repairs or replaces auxiliary components such as motors, bearings, alarms, safety devices, boosters, and generators.
