Pay Rate: $26.08 to $32.80 per hour.

Position Purpose: 

The Operator I operates and maintains sludge, dewatering treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in refinery/industrial facility to purify water to meet customer specifications.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

Operates equipment manually and through instrument panels, computer terminals and programmable logic control units.Follows process control procedures for assigned areas; verifies and reports suspected malfunctions and variances to Chief Operator.Prepares chemical solutions, receives bulk chemical deliveries and monitors process chemical supplies and recommends reorder.Samples water, wastewater, sludge and gases according to schedule, and services automatic samplers.Performs routine lab tests and routine instrument calibration for portable meters.Performs minor maintenance including routine preventative maintenance, lubrication and minor adjustments; performs basic troubleshooting of equipment, recommends solutions and, where appropriate, fills out maintenance requests.Operates vehicles for plant operational purposes.Assures work is performed in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating and emergency response procedures.Performs cleanup and housekeeping tasks for work areas, tools, equipment, facilities and grounds.Performs other related duties as needed.

Work Environment:

Requires working in outside and inside environments with noise and all temperature and climatic conditions, and must be able to work under adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time.Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

High School Diploma/GED is required.Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions). Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.Some experience in a related position and environment preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for process control.Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.Must be able to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required by site.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training: 

Massachusetts Grade IV Wastewater license, or ability to obtain within one year.Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry sixty (60) pounds in standing or bending positions and carry while walking distances of ten (10) feet.Additional Information
