Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position is designated as mission essential. Incumbent may be required to remain on duty or report for duty during severe weather or other installation closings. This position requires rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license. Incumbent must undergo and pass physical ability test annually In Accordance With (IAW) Army Regulation (AR) 190 56. Incumbent must be able to pass initial and annual medical examinations. Incumbent must pass periodic proficiency examinations and qualify annually and semi-annually with assigned firearms. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain current required certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques. Incumbent must wear a uniform, bullet proof vest and other security/law enforcement equipment. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Qualifications
Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to Veterans preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment. If there are no Veterans preference eligible applicants available, non-preference applicants may be considered.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: performs detection and prevention of theft, damage, and/or trespassing; performs vehicle searches and confiscates unauthorized items; directs traffic flow; and verifies identification and controlling access to premises. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Conditions of Employment: (Continued) This position is subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the gun control act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition. Civilian personnel of the Department of the Defense are not exempt from this provision. Therefore, as a condition of employment, selectee will be required to sign a form acknowledging understanding of this provision. This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent is required to sign a Department of Army (DA) Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions Identified as Critical Under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
