Job Summary:
The Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining strong internal controls. This role involves overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent leadership skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reports to senior management.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Manage and maintain the accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Reconcile account balances and bank statements.
  • Develop and manage the annual budgeting process.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and monitor performance against budgets.
  • Identify and explain variances between actual results and budgeted figures.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including managerial experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
