SUMMARY: 

South University School of Pharmacy is seeking applications for a faculty position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. We are seeing an outstanding candidate to join a faculty team committed to academic excellence, scholarship, service, and student success. We are considering applicants at the assistant or associate professor faculty level of pharmacy practice in the area of Internal Medicine (any specialty area).

The Pharmacy Practice faculty member reports to the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice. They contribute to an innovative curriculum, establish a clinical pharmacy practice for experiential education and patient care, perform scholarly activities, and serve on School/University/Professional committees.

JOB ELEMENTS:

Clinical Teaching:Under the direction of the Department Chair, develop a clinical practice site atanaffiliatedinstitutionorcommunitypharmacyfortheexperientialeducationofSOP students.DidacticTeaching:Contribute to the didacticteachingload ofthe Department,including the development or maintenance of course materials. The amount of teaching will be assigned annually by the Department Chair with consideration given to the faculty member’s clinical duties.Service: Active service on committees of the School or University, and service as a faculty student advisor, as assigned.Scholarship:Scholarlycontributionstothedisciplineandprofession.Scholarshipgoals are determined in consultation with the Department Chair considering clinical and didactic teaching load.ActivelyparticipateineventsandactivitiesoftheSchoolandUniversity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Pharm.D. degreefrom an ACPE Accredited School of Pharmacy/InstitutionUnrestricted license to practice Pharmacy in the State of Georgia, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire datePostgraduate residency and/or fellowship training in a specified therapeutic area or equivalent experience preferred.Prior teaching and research experience in relevant field preferredExperience with computerized administrative systems. Must be proficient with the use of standard office applications on personal computersExcellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with student populationsOutstanding conflict resolution skillsDemonstrated time management and detail-oriented skillsComputer-based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing skills)Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accreditation criteria, state agency regulations, and academic journals.Ability to resolve inquiries and complaints from employees, students, regulatory agencies, or members of the academic or Pharmacy Community
