As the Gateway Integrated Safety Review Panel (GISRP) chair you will serve as a Safety & Mission Assurance (S&MA) senior expert, supporting the Gateway Program S&MA Office and leading the GISRP through the safety review process. You will be responsible for assessing technical and programmatic risk and implementing safety policy to ensure the design and operations of the integrated Gateway utilization payloads and Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) are compliant with technical requirements.
Duties
- Provides leadership and management of community members, processes, tools, products, and services associated with conducting Gateway Program safety reviews, with responsibility for coordinating/communicating safety activities and expectations.
- Leads the implementation of the Gateway Integrated Safety Review Panel (GISRP) by executing the safety review processes to evaluate hazards of the integrated hardware, software, and operations of the Gateway for adherence to safety requirements.
- Leads the GISRP in identifying and assessing technical and programmatic risks associated with the design and operation of Gateway elements, Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), and science utilization.
- Characterizes risk of complex systems and develops plans to reduce or eliminate risk, ensuring crew safety and mission success. Uses sound decision-making with consensus from the GISRP to accept risk at thresholds defined by the Gateway Program.
- Elevates risk decisional authority when delegated GISRP risk acceptance thresholds are exceeded. Provides technical recommendations to Gateway management for risk acceptance or risk mitigation.
- Leads the GISRP in conducting joint safety reviews with other Artemis Programs, where hazard controls or verifications are shared by one or more Artemis programs. Serves as the Gateway Program delegate to the Gateway element safety review panels.
- Serves as focal for collaboration across the Gateway element safety panels and Artemis Program safety panels, coordinating schedules and technical topics to establish consistency and cohesiveness in processes and risk analysis methodologies.
- Serves as hazard analysis tools, process, requirements, and best practices champion. Implements tools and process improvements through coordination with stakeholders across the Agency.
