POSITION OVERVIEW

To analyze and improve metallurgical processing and laboratory techniques through technical testing, assaying and analysis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Understand and apply broad statistical process control to all analytical data generated. Troubleshoot analytical systems and equipment/instrumentation to minimize loss of productivity in the laboratory. Interface with samplers to insure prompt and accurate sample preparation. Work with multifunctional teams such SXEW Operations Department, the Mine, the Laboratory, and all other Silver Bell Departments to optimize safety, environmental compliance, production, costs, and quality in the laboratory. Ability to develop yearly CAPEX/OPEX budgets for new projects/and continuous process improvement Assembles data and prepares daily/week/monthly reports from operating information/environmental status/safety issues. Responsible for site metallurgical accounting and end of month variance explains to management Maintains awareness of competitive technology and new developments Metallurgical testing capability including, ore characterization, flowsheet development, technical laboratory analyses, process experimentation, equipment selection and sizing, materials comparison, troubleshooting and statistical analysis to improve existing processes as well as to reduce cost. Familiar with laboratory function and operation Acts as a back up for other SXEW metallurgical and laboratory staff. Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong interpersonal skills. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Must have excellent computer skills with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook. Must have solid technical knowledge of mining, leaching, solvent extraction and electrowinning processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Supervisory experience required. Must be able to manage time effectively and set priorities. Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks. Must have valid driver's license
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials, Chemical engineering or related field. At least 5 years of Related Experience required
